Right lads,

As promised, the golden rules for any football team or large group night out to be a successful one. And believe me they do work if done right.

Now, many of you reading will have faced the same difficulties over the years regarding access to various establishments and keeping your group together etc etc. Not least of which because you adopt the "No man is left behind" approach to the night which by all means is admirable but at the same time can be a hindrance. Yes lads there's always one and you know who you they are! Here are some of the hints, tips, cheats and challenges I have picked up and faced over my years of being a sociable Dublin Tadpole.

Its Christmas time at Xico.....

.....ALL YEAR ROUND!!

Hey Everybody,

Here comes one of the most surprising reviews I have ever written!!

Xico, a relatively new establishment on Baggot Street Lower, has seen some changes in clientele since it first opened its doors just a few short years ago. What I used to consider as a cool, fresh, hip location for after work drinks or to bring a date for some tapas, and hopefully "Tap Ass" later, has seen what I can only describe as a dramatic change in business and a rather off putting one in my opinion.

Hello everyone and welcome to GOINGOUT.IE.

This site was born from a couple of lads who essentially LOVE to go out!!

It all started back in 2008 when a fresh faced young college man "Kermit" became a member of a Students Union who at the time was known for its wild parties and controversial taste in acts. Life was good, drinks flowed, parties flourished and so did the reputation of The S.U.

Here we take a look at the best spots in the big smoke otherwise known as Dublin City to silence that 3am growling gut! Some staple favourites of us Irish folk and some hidden gems.

So lets start with Ireland's most popular fast food, yes you know it, it's Domino's. You know what you are going to get when you go, the menu meets the needs of the budget and a feast will be had. Most now open until 5am which means you can order before you even get a taxi home and it will be there just after you get back. Perfect stuff. The Garlic Sauce is a particular favourite of mine. There is many a morning I have woken up again with an awful head on me and gave it a re-heat and had a few slices for breakfast too. More often then not i'll get a fresh one later that day as well, I can't help it, those cookies are soooo good!

Another staple favourite when down the country is Supermacs. This is basically the Irish version on McDonalds, yes folks we have our own. Famous for "Hot Muffins and Ice Cream" and all sourced from Irish ingredients or at least so they say. It really is delicious grub after a few scoops. Also they have partnered with Papa Johns Pizza so you can pick one of them up too if you fancy and do some mix and match. The biggest and best one of these I have been in to date is Eyre Square in Galway. Absolute Mayhem in there at 3am.

This brings me to another popular spot often frequented by the drunken Irish and tourists alike. There are plenty of them dotted around town at this point and in fact, they have numbers now too. Reason being is most likely so the piss heads roaming the streets at all hours can locate their mates by shouting down the phone "I'm in number 3.....what do ya mean where's that.....its beside Cassidy's ya tick", you guessed it people, I'm talking about Charlie's!!! They are a purple painted chinese takeaways and they do exactly what they say on the tin, they leave you looking purple the next morning!! I've had the pleasure of craving a duuuurty beef curry in the early hours twice in my lifetime and both times I made the mistake of hitting a Charlie's, yes folks not the same one either. Both times I have been up the next day vomiting my guts up and having the pleasure of being re-acquainted with the same curry. No lads, it was not the drink, I have an iron stomach and my mates will tell you, but Charlie's got the better of me. "2-0 boys and it is definitely full time on that one!!!"

Now folks there are plenty of lovely establishments around town that are hidden gems and quality spots in their own right and I am sure you will have your say as to what they may be but for me there is one clear, unchallenged and undisputed champion of the "Fast Food Fanatics" trophy. And no, it is not a place with big golden arches! Guess again boys and girls. This place not only attracts me because of its beautifully green exterior. This place is second to none in terms of quick service, great banter staff and silly good food yes this is Zaytoon!! A Persian cuisine restaurant open day and night that serve what can only be described as the freshest and tastiest kebabs a frog could wish for!! Never have I ever had a bad experience here, except for the time I fell asleep face down in one and thought I had lost my watch. That was a close one cos Miss Piggy would have crucified the tadpoles if that showed up lost I tell ya! Lads check this place out if you haven't already there is one on Camden St and in the middle of Templebar, it doesn't matter what you order or which one you head to, you won't be disappointed!! Legendary!!
